How do I maintain a relationship with God?

The Psalmist compares the person who is blessed of God to a tree with a deep root reaching into underground water supplies and contrast them to chaff – the waste product from wheat production – which is left to be blown away by the wind. A person who is walking with God "has a deep root." That is, they are vitally connected to "the Word of God" – the Scriptures - in such a way that their health and blessing is not connected to the environment around them. But the wicked person is exhausted, consumed and blown away by the struggles of life.

Living the effective Christian life is the process of getting rooted and staying connected with the Word of God, and not being blown away by your circumstances. It entails living among a community of people who empower, support and admonish one another to extend their roots deeply into the scriptures.

At EFC Vestal we’ve developed a ministry designed to help people live like a deeply rooted tree. We are a community of people who gather together in several venues for worship, instruction and fellowship. We also have several small groups designed to build intimacy or to teach the skills of Christian living. These small groups provide support during the week and hold people accountable for their walk with God.

EFC Vestal is a place for you to grow and walk with Christ.
